Description: This training is designed for mental health professionals and students who are new to play therapy and want to build a strong foundation in its principles and practices. Participants will explore the history, rationale, and core concepts of play therapy. The workshop will introduce essential play therapy skills, the play therapy space, and address the role of the therapist in facilitating therapeutic play. Participants will also gain insight into ethical considerations, cultural sensitivity, and strategies for engaging children effectively in the play therapy process.
Learning objectives:
Describe the fundamental principles, history, and theoretical foundations of play therapy.
Identify key materials needed to create a play therapy space or assemble a portable play therapy kit.
Demonstrate basic play therapy skills and understand the role of the therapist in facilitating therapeutic play.
