Meet the Team

Originally from Louisiana, I’ve been in the counseling and play therapy world for 13 years. I’ve worked with children 0+, adolescents, families, and adults across the lifespan on a variety of issues- from every day life stressors to severe mental illness. Currently, I’m an Assistant Professor, Play Therapy Supervisor, Clinic Co-Director, and Director of Play Therapy Education & Research Center. I am deeply passionate about mental health, play therapy, and the growth of both individuals and professionals in this field.
My approach to counseling and play therapy is grounded in Relational-Cultural theory, an approach that emphasizes connection, creativity, and culture. I also integrate neuroscience-informed and trauma-informed care methods, recognizing that safe, growth-fostering relationships are essential for meaningful healing and change. I integrate play, creative expressive techniques, and neuroscience-informed approaches into my evidence-based practices to create spaces where people can heal, explore, and thrive.
As a supervisor and educator, I carry these same values into my work with mental health professionals. I strive to foster a collaborative, empowering, and enriching learning environment—one that fosters authenticity, creativity, and ethical, effective practice.

I have a passion for working with individuals from a person-centered perspective, where I aim to provide a safe space for all people to explore who they are and how to be their most genuine self in reaching their goals. Through developing a therapeutic relationship I believe in being with another person to help them see what it is already within them can help empower them to heal and start thriving.
I have been working in counseling for 15 years and in academia as a professor of counseling for 11 years. Before becoming a professor my focus on practicing was as a counselor, clinical director, and supervisor for a community-based nonprofit clinic housed within Ole Miss seeing children, adolescents, and parents through play therapy and expressive arts; play therapy in school based therapy; and adults within the university setting adjusting to college, dealing with trauma and difficult life circumstances, as well as anxiety, depression, and grief.
I am now working as an adjunct with The Chicago School online Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and shifting my focus back into clinical work and continue to supervise clinicians working toward their Register Play Therapist credentials.
